Shawn Lee Iron “Iron Man”, 53 of Warman Creek Ranch, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 20, 2024.

Deaxkaashshikaake “Eagle Boy” given to him by his late grandpa Claude Dawes was born April 14, 1971 in Crow Agency, a son of Ray and Melva Iron, Sr.. Shawn married the love of his life, the late Ella Buffalo and they had 3 boys, Shawn Seth (Yvonna), Porter Ray the late Oliver ‘OJ’ Iron. Shawn was a member of the Pentecostal Church, the Big Lodge Clan and a Greasy Mouth Child. He was raised on the Warman Creek Ranch in Fort Smith and later in his early years moved to Dunmore and was also raised by his grandparents the late Melvin and Elsie Pretty Paint.

He attended school at Fort Smith Elementary, Hardin High School and graduated from St. Labre Catholic School in 1991. While attending Fort Smith Elementary he wrestled from 4th to 6th grade. While attending school in Hardin he played T-ball and was an all-star football player while in his high school at St. Labre. He achieved many awards and medals in both sports, his love for these sports took him to many local and state tournaments.  He gave his all whenever he was playing on a team and always proud to represent his team. Shawn was very proud of his boys’ accomplishments in their pursuit for their love of wrestling because he was able to train and be by their side in every moment. He was a highly competitive and avid horseback rider. He loved to ride motorcycle’s up Warman Mountain and was known for the love of his Chevy Camaro. Shawn was so friendly; his outgoing contagious personality would always brighten up a room. He loved to joke around with his crazy humor and would lighten up a room with presence.

In his professional career beginning from 1989 he was a Wild Land Firefighter for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. From 1980 to 1983 he was a seasonal worker at Bighorn National Recreation Area in Fort Smith, Mt. In 1985 he worked at the Western Sugar cooperative, he was a Processing Operator, Loader Operator, and a Belt Operator Supervisor. He graduated in 1993 from the Ironworkers National Training Co-op in Chicago, IL.. From 2004-2005 he worked at Westmoreland as a Laborer, Heavy Equipment Operator and was Diesel Mechanic and a welder.  From 2004-2005 he attended MSU Billings Vo Tech and from 2014-2015 at Little Bighorn College working towards a degree in Agriculture, in Farm and Range Land Management. One of his many achievements during his professional career was being an Iron worker, he was very proud of this accomplishment and would always encourage his children to work towards this field and express his accomplishment in this field of work.

Love ones preceded him in death: Oliver (OJ) and Lance Iron and Courtney Little Nest. Maternal side of the family: Melvin and Elsie Pretty Paint, Lori Anne Pretty Paint, Melinda Half, Grace Three Irons, Mable Pretty On Top, Claude Dawes Sr., JoJo Pretty Paint, Molly Smells. Paternal side: Ralph and Ada Iron, Garland, Sylvester, Yvonne, Sylvia, Daisy, Bruce Iron, Violet Hugs, Arvilla Plain Bull, Tory and Nick Fighter.

Survivors include his dad and mom and his two boys, sisters: DesiRae Iron, BonaRae (Reiny) Shane, Am aber (Andrew) Left Hand, Berdina (Bill) Stops. Brothers: Ray Jr., (LaDawn) Iron, Randy Three Irons, Robin Iron, Scotty Dawes and Andrew (Sara) Little Nest. Uncles: Edward (Mary) Iron, Norman (Lynn) Morrison, LT (Tammie) Hugs, Clyde Pretty Paint, Porgy (Gloria), Old Elk, Lydon (Ann Marie) Old Elk, Marvin (Glenda), Larson (Shannan), and Dean (Nadine) Dawes. Aunts: Melvina Dawes, Brenda and Jeannie Pretty Paint, Jana-Jo Alden, Faith Iron, Georgianne Old Elk, Sandra Grant, Joen White, Beldean Small. Nephews Andrez, Malachi, and Lance (Shantell) Little Nest, Ryden Iron, Icen and Raycen Shane. Nieces Raylia Iron. Grandchildren: Amari, Abigail, Kaydrean, Kelsie, and Kharris Iron. Numerous, aunts, uncles, and extended family, including Dawes, Pretty Paint, Pretty On Top, House, Hugs, Iron, Morrison, Plain Bull, Goes Ahead, Singers, Yarlott, Not Afraid, Pretty Weasel, White Clay, Bear Crane, Morning, Comes Up, Stands, Hoops, Tushka, Medicine Horse Families, Falls Down, Old Elk and Alden.
