On April 7, 2026, a beautiful spring morning, Shirley Renee (Pitsch) Margheim peacefully passed from this life into eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus, at the age of 89. She was surrounded by family. Shirley was born February 21, 1937, the daughter of Pete and Sarah (Hardt) Pitsch in Hardin. She attended school in Crow Agency and Hardin, graduating with the class of 1955. On March 11, 1956, she married Robert Margheim of Mitchell, NE. The couple made a life together farming in the Garryowen valley, where they raised their family. Shirley was a devoted wife to Bob and loving mother of five.
She was a loving and caring person to her family and many friends. She was thoughtful and generous of spirit. Aside from being a busy farm wife and mother, Shirley worked for forty years at Little Horn State Bank holding several positions. Shirley was happy to be involved in church and community organizations, serving in various capacities over the years. She was a very busy woman who did not shy away from commitment. She was a life-long member of Christ E&R Church.
Shirley began playing piano and organ at the church, at age 15, being mentored by the pastor’s wife. Shirley played her last service on Palm Sunday 2026. She was a devoted member of the church and was a willing servant.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Harvey and Irvin Pitsch; brothers-in-law, Floyd Bastrom, Harvey Bauer, and Lonnie Margheim, and her niece Dana Rae Bastrom.
Survivors include her sons, Greg (Lori) and Jeff Margheim; daughters, Shelley (Bret) Barnes, Kathleen (Larry) Wagner, and Bobbie Neubauer; sister Linda Bastrom, sisters-in-law, Beverly (Margheim) Bauer, Julie Pitsch and Charlene Pitsch; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews.
