Harold E. Turner was born November 7, 1930, and passed away October 20, 2019. Shirley Jean Turner was born on May 6, 1934, and passed away September 12, 2023. Harold and Shirley married on November 3rd, 1952 upon his return from combat in the Korean War. The couple had been married for 71 years. Harold and Shirley resided in Billings Montana, and had two children, Hal E. Turner and Kellee D. Turner. Harold was a salesman for some time until he had started working road construction and operating heavy equipment. Harold loved working construction, and meeting all the friends he made along the way, as did Shirley, working construction being a flag lady. Due to road construction being seasonal, this enabled Harold and Shirley to pursue the love of their life, “The Great Outdoors”, which included camping, hunting, trapping, and fishing. Harold and Shirley also made some time to make music and danced all the way from Edgar to Wyola.
Later in life, Harold and Shirley built a home in Hardin Montana, where they met numerous friends that had turned into family. Being close to the Big Horn mountains enabled them to go on road trips to see the countryside, wildlife, and what different tracks they could spot, to place a good snare! If Harold and Shirley were not spending time in the “Great Outdoors”, you could find them taking care of their grandchildren/great grandchildren or going to their sporting events. They loved their kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren very much. Harold and Shirley’s marriage was the definition of “TRUE LOVE”, they spent every day together keeping themselves busy, and were always on the go! They truly enjoyed life.
With the two of them being so close and spending 77 years together in total, it seemed fitting that they also have their funeral service together. Both Harold and Shirley had requested to be cremated and have their ashes spread on top of the Big Horn Mountain. Please join us for their funeral service at Bullis Mortuary, 507 North Center Avenue, Hardin, MT 59034 on Tuesday, September 19th at 1:00 PM, followed by a reception at J&D Meats, 412 North Custer Avenue, Hardin, MT 59034 at 2:00 PM.
