Terry Ellen Baker Jeffers, 83, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, due to dementia and related health issues.
She was born April 30, 1942, to Colonel Jake and Betty Baker. She grew up in the military life and got to travel the world. She graduated high school in France. After high school when her family was stationed at Quantico, VA, she met the love of her life, Hale C. Jeffers, who was there training for the Marine Corps. After they married and Hale completed the Marine Corps, they settled down on the family ranch in Lodge Grass, MT, and were blessed with three children.
In the earlier years Terry belonged for many years to Civic Club, Montana Cowbelles and was a 4-H leader for the Little Big Horn Beef Rustlers. She also was an election judge and substitute teacher at Lodge Grass Schools. She was a devoted Christian and taught Catechism for years at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Lodge Grass. After her children graduated, she worked at the Jailhouse Gallery in Hardin, MT until she retired in 2019.
Terry is preceded in death by her husband, Hale, her parents, brother-in-law Elmer Haas, sister-in-law Helen Rae Haas, brother-in-law Ron Thompson and brother-in-law Larry Bishop.
Terry is survived by children, Richard (Lola) Jeffers of Cutbank, MT, Chance (Mallory) Jeffers of Lodge Grass, MT and Marla Jeffers of Lodge Grass, MT. Two grandchildren Jade and Hallie, two great grandchildren Stetson and Natalie, sister Becky Baker of Northern California, brother-in-law Scott (Judy) Jeffers of Lodge Grass, MT, sisters-in-law, Theresa Thompson and Donna Bishop of Milwaukie, OR, numerous nieces and nephews and her close friend Renee Elsen.
Cremation has taken place. Due to Mom’s wishes, there will not be a service, but the family will have a Christian burial at a later date. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.
