Terry Stewart of Hardin, MT passed away peacefully May 9, 2024 after a lengthy illness. Terry Roy Stewart was born December 28, 1955 in Creston, Iowa to Berle and Mary Louise Stewart. The family moved to Montana in June 1964 where Terry really began to live. He loved the outdoors and the freedom he felt there. He recently told his sister that after moving to Montana "He had the world by the tail and was as free as a bird". He worked as a surveyor for the Montana Department of Transportation from 1984 until 2009. Terry had two dogs over the years that he loved very much, Bud and Cassie. He and Cassie were so close that Terry is taking her with him! He was also preceded in death by his father Berle. He is survived by his mother of the home, his sisters Sherri Schmidt (Ed) of Missoula, MT, Shelli Eidson (Kelly) of Calera, OK, his brother Tracy Stewart (Shana) of Chama, NM and his four nieces and a nephew and his three great nephews and three great nieces. At every opportunity Terry loved to fish, camp and hike the mountains of Montana. His usual fellow camper was his best friend Casey, who he'd known since Jr. High. Casey preceded Terry in death January 2022 after his own lengthy illness. Terry didn't marry and he had no children but he adored his nieces and nephew.
