Thomas (Tom) Paul Schroeder age 75, of Hardin, passed away March 7th unexpectedly at his home. Tom was born February 1, 1951 to Leslie & Virginia Schroeder. He received his schooling in Hardin and graduated in the spring 1969. During his youth, he met his high school sweetheart, Bert Lippert. The two were married on June 17, 1972. After their marriage, the couple moved to Anaconda, Montana, while Bert completed her schooling. Tom worked as a salesman for Sweetheart Bread Company before the couple eventually moved back to Hardin. After returning home, Tom went to work for his father at Les’s Food Farm then Shawn Allen’s Supermarket, where he spent time helping with the family business. Tom had a short stint of working as delivery person for Frito Lay before finding his last passion in the grocery business at Stevenson’s IGA/Reese & Ray’s for 20 years plus. Bert sadly passed away on February 19, 1996. Tom met Charlene Steinmetz and the two married in 2008 and were married until Tom’s passing.
Survivors include his wife, Charlene of Hardin, a sister, Nancy Williams of Tok, Alaska, aunt Karen Schroeder of AZ, a daughter, Kim (Berke) of Billings, a son Aaron (Tiffany) of Hardin. Tom is survived by 7 Grandchildren Stetson (Brayden) & Brooklynne Will (Kade Recor), Cole, Dylan & Payden Brown, & Ty & Bryson Schroeder, one great granddaughter Lakelynne Recor, nephews Dar,Mitch and Duncan Williams and family, many cousins and a special friend, Kara.
He was preceded in death by Bert, his parents, Les & Virginia Schroeder, Mother and father-in-law Thomas (TL) & Joyce Lippert, and his uncle Dean Schroeder. Tom will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and the friendships he built throughout his life in Hardin. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Bullis Mortuary in Hardin. Graveside service to follow.
