Thomas "Tom" Warrren Obituary

Thomas “Tom” Warren, 77, of Hardin, passed away on September 12, 2023, at Benefis Peace Hospice in Great Falls, Montana.

He was born the son of Wallace “Walley” and Grace (Haug) Warren on March 14, 1946, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings.  He grew up, attended school, worked, and lived most of his life in Hardin.

As a boy, Tom was stricken with Polio.  He was in the hospital for months and treatment included two weeks in an iron lung to assist with breathing.  The disease didn’t beat him then, but it did leave him permanently affected.  Post-polio syndrome progressed throughout his life and was ultimately debilitating.

He graduated from Hardin High School in 1965 and attended Eastern Montana College for a short time.  He married Connie Muhlbeier on February 3, 1968, and they were together 25 years.  Early-on, they moved and started a family.  After a couple of years of moving to various states and pursuing a career as a department store manager, Tom realized how much he missed the farm, family, friends, and lifestyle that he grew up with.  The family returned to Hardin early in the 1970’s.  Tom gained employment as a loan officer at a local bank and worked there for over 20 years.

Tom was proud of his family heritage in Big Horn County.  He loved vintage cars (especially his 1964 Chevelle), reminiscing about farming and hunting, finding a bargain (just like his dad), and taking daily drives.  He also enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, fairs, car shows, horse races, and spending time with family and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his father Walley, mother Grace; and two brothers-in-law, David Muhlbeier and Don Bailey.

He is survived by two sons, Craig (Kris) Warren of Great Falls, Shawn (Kris) Warren of Spanaway, WA; his five grandchildren, Logan Warren, Dillon Warren, Carter Warren, Kaylee Klewin and Evan Klewin; one great-grandchild, Bella Lima; and his sister Connie (Don) Bailey.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held in Hardin.  Dates have yet to be established, but will be announced in the future.  Bullis Mortuary is entrusted with the arrangements.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to The Big Horn County Historical Society.
