Virginia Rae May was born on May 27, 1935, to Louis Haveman and Martha (Hollowell) Haveman, the 3rd of 6 children. She lived on Pease Bottom, attended the Rancher School and graduated from Hysham High School. Ginger married Charles on September 10, 1953, and moved to Sarpy Creek in the fall of 1955.
Ginger and Charles worked as a team from haying to working cattle and raising 3 girls. Ginger loved to knit, read, visit with the neighbors and play numerous card games. Her favorite was “Aunt Mary’s” Rummy played with Aunt Mary, her family and Shirley Redland.
Ginger is survived by 2 daughters, Della Ruff and Jo (Bob) Tubbs, 2 grandchildren Jenny (Chad) Moke and their children, Elizabeth and Joseph; Jon (Misti) Redland and their children, Mesa, Libby and Spencer; her son-in-law Bob (Cathy) Redland, sister Kay Sitton and her childhood friend of 80 plus years, Shirley Redland.
Ginger is preceded in death by her husband Charles, her daughter Monica Redland and son-in-law Gary Ruff, her parents Louis and Martha and stepfather Art Boehm, her brothers, Frank, Jay and David Haveman, her sister Shirley Haveman and brother-in-law George Sitton.
Memorials can be made to Stillwater Hospice, Big Horn County Historical Society, Treasure County 89ers, or one of your choice.
A closed casket service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at the Bullis Funeral Chapel in Hardin. Burial follows at the Fairview Cemetery with a light reception at the Bullis Family Center following the committal.
