Stella Brown

Stella Ruth Earthboy Brown, Rattlesnake Turnip Digger (Tahumpe sedex niawia), 80, of Hardin passed away Nov.30, 2017.
She was born April 6, 1937 in Missoula, a daughter of Barney Longee and Lucille Earthboy. She was raised by Jim Earthboy and her grandmother Helen Earthboy. She received her education in Harlem, before attending nursing school in Havre. Stella worked as a school nurse for several years, before retirement.
Stella married Daniel Brown on Oct. 25, 1962 in Sheridan, Wyoming and the couple made their home in Crow Agency, after traveling throughout the United States. During her younger years, she loved to bead, quilt and garden. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She followed her traditional ways of life, especially the Sun Dance.
Her parents, husband, sisters Nellie, Karen and Jeannie(Fox), brothers Robert, Stanley and Baby Scheaffer and granddaughter Lucille Prettyvoice Crane preceded Stella in death.
Survivors include her daughters Emmeline and Lenny Brown; adopted daughters Jennifer White Bear, Mary Whiteman, Carmella Brown, Carol Turinsky and Jill Kehler; her sons Norbert and Daniel Brown Jr.; adopted sons Nick Three Irons and Nacoma Jefferson; her sisters Geraldine (Melvin) Rutherford, Stephanie (Ivan) Wing, Beckie Earthboy and Helen (Burton) Butterfly; brothers Tony Ray (Sharon) and Bobby John Earthboy; her grandchildren Bruce, Tryell, Colesun, Nobert Jr., Nakota, Patrick, Adoralenn, Harlan, Salyntha and Chairee and her great grandchildren Jayden, Orion, Brett, Ven and Dean.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Saturday Dec. 2nd in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Wake services will be held 7:00 pm Sunday in the Ft. Belknap New Building. Traditional services will be held 11:00 am Monday in the New Building. Interment will follow in the Pony Hill Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.
