Verna Stenerson

July 17, 1924 – October 5, 2020

Verna Stenerson passed away peacefully on October 5, 2020 at the Big Horn County Senior Living Nursing Home in Hardin, Montana.  She was born on July 17, 1924 to Amos and Esther (Parker) Davis in Belle Fourche, South Dakota.  She grew up and attended school in Camp Crook, South Dakota graduating from high school in 1942.  She married Bert Stenerson on July 21, 1942 in Baker, Montana.  The couple moved to Hardin in 1957 where he was employed by the Holly Sugar Company.  After the closure of the Hardin Sugar Factory, the couple transferred to Moses Lake, Washington, then to Sidney, Montana and eventually moved back to Hardin in 1979.  Bert passed away on February 16, 1985.  

Verna was a wonderful salesperson at the Anthony’s and Stage Stores in Hardin. She was a member of the Hardin Lodge of the Daughters’ of Rebekka and the Senior Citizens Association.  She was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church in Hardin and worked at many bazaars and other church related fundraisers. She loved to quilt and made her family members many treasured items.  She was known for her baking and she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren .  

Verna is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bert; her brother Bob Davis; her sisters Lois (Mel) Lehto and Helen (Bob) Fox.

She is survived by her sons Ron (Judy) of Billings, Randy (Kathy) Stenerson of Hardin; her daughter Cindy (Larry) Koch of West Richland, Washington; her grandchildren Nikki and Jeff Stenerson, Amber (Matt) Link, Jobeth (Terry) Borne; her great granddaughters Anna Link, Evelyn and Lillian Borne; her sister Dorothy Williams of Rapid City and her sister-in law Edith “Pete” Davis of Billings; several nephews and nieces including her special nephew Bill (Dorothy) Stenerson of Hardin.

Graveside services will be held Friday October 9, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Fairview Cemetery in Hardin, Montana. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the First Methodist Church of Hardin, the Big Horn Senior Living Residents’ Fund or the Big Horn County Senior Center. 

Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.
