Clifford H. Wittmier, 89, passed away peacefully on April 21,2024.
Cliff was born on July 5,1934, in Stutsman County, North Dakota on the family farm near Streeter. He was the son of Wilhelm Wittmier and Elizabeth Harter Wittmier.
He received his education in the rural school district and Streeter.
Cliff married Deloris Jane Dewald on July 15, 1956 in Hardin, MT. They spent 67 years together and made Hardin their home. With this union came 4 daughters: Lanette, Sheri, Karla, and Deanna. Over the years, they welcomed their sons-in-laws, who were always trying to become the “favorite”. It was a never ending battle to be #1 son-in-law.
Cliff came to Hardin at 18 years old. He spent 30 years working at Safeway and another 11 years at Stevenson IGA before retiring. He was a member of Christ Evangelical & Reformed Church. Other things he enjoyed were haying in the Big Hole, driving beet trucks, making beautiful wooden bowls, texturing and dry wall and dancing. Cliff loved spending time with all his family, camping, fishing and enjoying the outdoors.
Cliff and Deloris made annual winter trips to Mesa, AZ for 23 years during their retirement. They also enjoyed traveling to China, the Panama Canal, Germany and several other European countries, Alaska, and Hawaii.
Cliff is preceded in death by his parents, Wilhelm & Elizabeth and his siblings: Rachel, Frieda, Arthur, Jake, Ervin, Eugene and an infant sister.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife Deloris; his children Lanette (Sonny) Pantoja, Sheri (Jerry) Ferderer, Karla (Greg) Butts, and Deanna (Doug) Peterson; his grandchildren Joseph (Sarah) Pantoja, Lindsey (Nic) Kuhn, Megan (Rick) Bokma, Matthew (Allison) Ferderer, Katelyn (Ben) Stuenkel, Ben (Ally) Butts, Taryn Butts, and Dale Peterson and great-grandchildren Eve, Joseph, Lilah, August, Dahlia, Lillian, Vivian, Conrad, Garth, Sadie and a baby boy due in October as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial service will be July 5, 2024, at 11:00am at Christ E & R Church in Hardin.
