Dennis Gary Madill went home to be with the Lord on Sunday March 10, 2024.
He was born April 12, 1964 to Irene House and Alik Madill Sr. in Crow Agency, Montana. He was given his Crow Indian name Bishée Díilish / Walking Buffalo by the late John Half. He was raised in the Black Lodge District and later moved to the Big Horn District.
He graduated from Hardin High School where he participated in cross country.
Dennis enjoyed spending time with the boys hunting and fishing and showing them all his secret spots. He enjoyed being with family at various functions, he especially loved barbecuing and was often found manning the grill.
He enjoyed helping his brother Buddy during his annual camp meeting. Dennis enjoyed Crow Fair and was always proud to be the first to set up his wall tent in the Black Lodge District. He enjoyed cruising Crow and Hardin and was always willing to help where needed.
Dennis was employed with the Fort Smith Park Service while he was still in high school. After high school he started his employment with the Crow Tribe’s Abandoned Mine Lands program. He eventually started working as a tribal custodian at the Fort Smith Elementary School. Due to his work ethic he was eventually hired on with the Hardin School District at the Fort Smith elementary school as the custodian.
He was jack of all trades at the school he filled in where he was needed as secretary, cook, and substitute teacher. All the Fort smith school kids loved Dennis.
He is survived by his brothers, Bryan (Marie) Rogers, Clinton (Sherry) House, Alex (Ethel) Madill, Alex (Gina) Reed, Frank and Ivan (Dorothy); his adopted brothers include, Alfred (Roberta) and Everette (Kimmy) Walks, and Karl (Jodene) Bighair; his sisters, Mary Rogers, Lorrie and Florida House, Lou Old Coyote, and Annie Stops; his uncles, Bruce (Agatha) House, Raymond House, Larry (Carol) Old Elk, Clifford (Ardith) Birdinground, and Cecil Madill; his aunts, Fannie (Kenneth) Plenty, Mary (Edward) Iron, Eleanor Ruff, and Isabel Beyl.
